ARRESTING INDISCIPLINE

1 Timothy 5:20 ERV "Tell those who sin that they are wrong. Do this in front of the whole church so that the others will have a warning."

There's so much indiscipline virtually everywhere, including the church. We've preached grace to a point where people now think that they can live however they like without consequences. There are really no standards anymore in many circles; any kind of behaviour seems permissible; people are hardly rebuked for their errors, maybe so that they don't lose members. That's an error. We are becoming lawless.

Even the people don’t seem to want to be corrected. You try to correct people and they simply move to another church. Or you correct them in a particular way and they feel insulted, they want to determine how they are to be corrected. But Proverbs 27:5-6 says "An open rebuke is better than hidden love! Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy."

Hebrews 12:6, 8 says "The Lord disciplines everyone he loves; he punishes everyone he accepts as a child. So, if you never receive the discipline that every child must have, you are not true children and don’t really belong to God." Verse 11 says, "We don’t enjoy discipline when we get it. It is painful. But later, after we have learned our lesson from it, we will enjoy the peace that comes from doing what is right."

We need to ask for forgiveness for all acts of indiscipline; it may seem like there are no repercussions but there are - always! Indiscipline is a bad seed that yields bad fruits. If we go to God truly sorry He will forgive us.
