GLORIFYING CHRIST IN YOU

Ron Kenoly wrote and sang, “Be glorified in the heavens, be glorified in the earth, be glorified in this temple, Jesus, Jesus, be thou glorified.” You see, God is glorified in heaven, and here on earth; the question is, “Is He being glorified in you? 2 Thessalonians 1:12 says, “That the name of Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” I think the New Living Translation says it better, “Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honoured because of the way you live, and you will be honoured along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.” To glorify Christ in you is to honour Him. The question then is: have you been honouring Christ by the way you live? The things you do, the things you say, the places you go, the way you dress; have they been honouring God? According to the Scriptures, when we honour Christ, we will be honoured along with Him. And vice versa! In other words, when we dishonour Him, we will also be dishonoured! But the thing is that God always finds a way to glorify Himself; He said, “My name will be great among the nations, from the rising to the setting of the sun.” Malachi 1:11. So we lose when we dishonour Him. I’ll rather honour Him so that I might be honoured along with Him. His grace is sufficient for us. The concluding part of the verse says, “This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.” God never leaves us clueless, helpless or powerless: He has made grace available. Titus 2:11 says that the grace of God appeared to all men, teaching us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, and to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world.
