DO SOMETHING
2 Thessalonians 3:10 says that if any would not work, neither should he eat. Note the phrase, “would not”. Those who would not work even when they have an opportunity to work are lazy people. The Bible warns us against laziness; and we are told that every lazy person is to be ashamed of him or herself. Even when a lazy man has a job or business, he would soon lose it because of his attitude to work.
I’m aware that there are some who want to work but who have got no jobs. Well, not having a job isn't a licence to be idle! A job is working for salary or wages; but are you aware that you can work for free? Yes, and I mean it. I've done voluntary work before! All I got was food at work! Funny; right? But it’s a good attitude to work, if you ask me. I've even read books where you are encouraged to do voluntary work even when you can be paid. You may say that “things are hard”, but who’s your source – God or your salary?
Again, you must understand that you can do something with the gifts and talents that God gave you. Many musicians and actors began doing what they do today because they didn't find jobs. Rather than stay jobless, they decided to use their talents and today they are called celebrities. Why not learn a skill or trade? Anyone can trade something! As a student I made handmade cards which I sold, as well as other little jobs. Learn to bake, you can start a small farm, do network marketing, sell things for commissions, and start a lesson for those who seek admission (there are many schools that started like that). The small thing you start today can become a great organisation tomorrow!
Don’t leave yourself at the mercy of the government; God can bless you with or without a job! But you must be willing to start something that He can bless. According to the Scriptures, there is profit in all labour. I pray for you, that God will give you ideas of what to do, and that He will bless the works of your hands. Amen.
