Acts 10:38 says, "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him." Note that Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit. The anointing I am talking about therefore, is the presence of the Holy Spirit upon a man.
Jesus said, "But you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you." Acts 1:8. In other words, the presence of the Holy Spirit fills a man with the power of God. Understand that God is the source of true power and that He still empowers people today by His Spirit for ministry. Surely, there are people with other kinds of power and abilities, but all it is said, Jesus power is super power! Glory to God.
So, if you have received the Holy Spirit, you have actually received power. Now, there is a purpose for the anointing; God doesn't just empower for no reason; He endued us with power so that we might do His will. Jesus said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord." Luke 4:18-19.
Have you been faithful with the anointing? Some people think that the anointing is only meant for getting things for themselves and for improving their lives and finances; but like Jesus, we must go about doing good with the anointing of the Spirit. The best thing you can do for a man is to preach the gospel of salvation to him. If a man gets born again, he becomes a joint-heir with Christ and can enjoy every other thing of the kingdom. Shalom.
