White Garments

Ecclesiastes 9:8 NKJV "Let your garments always be white, and let your head lack no oil."

Garments refer to our spirits and bodies. Sin defiles us, and we are made clean by the blood of Jesus and the word of God. Ephesians 5:25-27 says, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish."

The desire of God is for our garments to be spotless at all times. Jesus said to the church in Sardis, "You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy." When Jesus looks at you, what does He see, defiled or undefiled garments?

II Corinthians 7:1 says, "Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." It doesn't matter how dirty and stained our garments are right now, they can be made clean: Isaiah 1:18 says that “Though your sins have stained you like the color red, you can become white like snow; though they are as easy to see as the color scarlet, you can become white like wool." If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us, and to cleanse us of every unrighteousness.
