Being A Blessing To Your Country

"Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings." Acts 24:17 KJV

While delivering his inaugural address in January 1961, one of the shortest and best presidential inaugural speeches in American history, John F. Kennedy said, "And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Those words were not taken lightly; again and again, even till now, you can see how willing the Americans are to even die for their country.

They say that "East or West, home is the best;" that's why after many years of preaching to the Gentiles in other nations of the world, Paul went back to Israel with alms for the poor and offerings for the Church of God. That was his own contribution to his country.

Countries are made up of individuals, and even though we elect certain persons to represent and lead us, we must never forget that we have responsibilities as citizens of our countries. It's an error to abdicate our responsibilities as citizens just because we have a government; as we have seen again and again, we can't always rely on the government to make the right decisions! So it's really up to us as citizens to make our countries great. No contribution is too little. If you can provide water for others to drink, please do! Stop wishing you were a citizen of another country because it's people like you who made those countries what they are today! Seek to play a role in the development of yours. Amen.
