THE POWER OF LOVE
Romans 16:3-4 NKJV "Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in
Christ Jesus, who risked their own necks for my life, to whom not only I
give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles."
The greatest expression of love is risking one's life for another. Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends."
In these last days, according to Paul's prophecy, men are being lovers of themselves, lovers of money and lovers of pleasure; many of us will never, for any reason, make costly sacrifices for other people, not even for our own family members.
I'm touched by what three of David's men did for him: David was in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was in Bethlehem. In there, he said with longing, “Oh, that someone would give me a drink of water from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!” Getting water from the well in Bethlehem meant passing through the camp of the enemy and probably losing your life in the process! But guess what, three of his men broke through the camp of the Philistines, drew water from the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, and took it and brought it to David! Wow! Even David was shocked at what they did for him. He offered the water as offering to God, saying, “Far be it from me, O my God, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy? For at the risk of their lives they brought it." The power of love!
