WATER BAPTISM
Colossians 2:12 NCV "When you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and you were raised up with him through your faith in God’s power that was shown when he raised Christ from the dead."
Every one who has been genuinely saved should be baptized in water, and it is very important that it is done. For a long time the church has taught that it is merely an outward show of salvation, but it is a lot more than that! A miracle of transformation occurs every time a man is baptized! Hallelujah! Romans 6:3-4 says we became part of Christ when we were baptized. 1 Peter 3:21 NLT says "And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ."
The Early Church had a better understanding of water baptism. They baptized a man in water immediately he believed. The Great Commission is incomplete without water baptism. We see in the Book of Acts, people being baptized as soon as they as believed. The Ethopian Eunuch didn't have to be saved for long to know the importance of being baptized; Acts 8:36 says, "While they were traveling down the road, they came to some water. The officer said, “Look, here is water. What is stopping me from being baptized?”
If you haven't been properly baptized in water (by immersion) since you believed, I advise that you get baptized immediately. I could tell the moment I was baptized that something awesome had happened in me! I knew I stepped out of that river a changed man! Glory to God!
