DOMINION OVER SIN
Genesis 4:6-7 NLT “Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.”
Something happened when you got born again; you died and resurrected with Christ; you became a new creation; your old nature that was sinful was taken away and the nature of Christ that is holy and righteous was given unto you. Hallelujah!
But that doesn't mean that you will never have sinful desires anymore. The difference between then and now is that then, sin was your master and you were powerless; you couldn't resist sin even if you wanted to; but now, you are a free man! Glory to God! And the Bible says that sin shall not have dominion over you (Romans 6:14). Hallelujah!
Just as God told Cain, sin is eager to regain its control over us but we've got to subdue it and be its master. Romans 6:12 says do not let sin reign in your body; verse 13 says, do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness. In other words, you have the power to say no to sin now; and you must exercise your dominion daily. God's grace is sufficient for you.
Maybe you have already sinned against your will, cheer up; we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus. You can receive forgiveness now: I John 1:9 says "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
